The AliefVotes Fellowship Application for the 2026-2027 School Year is open to all Alief ISD high school students. Apply at tinyurl.com/aliefvotes-fellows-2026 by September 27, 2026.

Powered by the Office of Houston City Council Member Thomas and in collaboration with Alief ISD, the program is open to all high school students in Alief. It is a year-long intensive that provides students with interactive civic engagement training, leadership opportunities, and a $250 stipend. Previous fellows have gone on to study at Harvard, Stanford, MIT, UT Austin, join the Marines/Navy, or enter the workforce to impact public policy in Alief. Last year, our awareness T-shirt theme days with jeans were well received, and I’d love to continue them for the 2026–2027 school year. I am proposing the same four days from last year, along with one additional day—International SEL Day—to highlight the importance of social-emotional learning for both students and staff.

A brief overview of each day:
💛 World Suicide Prevention Day – Raises awareness that suicide is preventable, encourages hope, and reminds others that help is available and every life matters.
🧡 Unity Day – Promotes kindness, inclusion, and standing together to prevent bullying in our schools and communities.
💙 International SEL Day – Celebrates the importance of social-emotional learning by recognizing the skills that help us build healthy relationships, manage emotions, make responsible decisions, and create positive school communities.
💜 Purple Up! for Military Kids Day – Honors the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of military-connected students and their families.
💚 Mental Health Awareness Day – Encourages open conversations about mental health, reduces stigma, and reminds everyone that seeking support is a sign of strength.

Alief ISD will host its annual Military and First Responders Night on Thursday, September 24 at Crump Stadium. All military personnel and first responders are asked to scan the QR code by September 17 to participate.

Alief ISD will host their annual Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, October 3rd at Crump Stadium. Sign up today!

Mighty Ram Families, due to impending weather, the district has canceled all after-school activities today, including practices, tutorials, meetings, and open gym. Students will take their regular mode of transportation at 2:35 p.m.
